Fund Boards Council member portal
A members' portal rebuilt off WordPress: the same job done without the plugin stack, plus engagement stats and a HubSpot link the old one could not carry.
Problem
FBC already had a members' portal - members could sign in and download what they needed. It was a WordPress build, and that was the problem: anything beyond the basics was either hacked into place or bought as a bloated premium plugin. The stack grew, performance suffered, and the running costs went with it.
What we built
A members' portal on its own stack: sign-in, a document library with access by membership tier, search, notifications, and a way to share individual documents with people who are not members. Event listings with registration, and a video library through Vimeo. Behind it, a custom CMS for the team, admin screens, member engagement statistics, and a HubSpot integration so the portal and the CRM know the same things. Alongside it, a custom Claude skill that turns a Word draft into FBC's branded PDF report, so the portal always has something worth logging in for.
Stack
Next.js on Vercel, Supabase for auth, data and row-level security, Resend for transactional email. Built with Claude Code; every change touching sign-in, permissions or member data reviewed by hand before deploy.
Timeframe
Six to eight weeks from scope to live. Scoped as an AI Product Sprint, then extended into a full build.
What it does now
FBC can see which members are actually engaging rather than guessing, and the portal and HubSpot stay in step. The site is substantially faster than the build it replaced, and it costs less to run each month - the plugin licences went with the plugins. The report skill runs on every new publication.
